Are you looking for new ideas and things to do for a birthday in London?

Where else should you celebrate a birthday? London has everything you could ask for and more.

Things to do for Birthday in London

If you look at how massive London is, you should say to yourself, they must have something for me.

With so much to do here, where do you start? If you like the idea of having a London themed birthday party then you may stay indoors.

However, most people want to be out in London exploring all what the city has to offer.

Things to do for a Birthday in London (Day-time)

Trust us when we say they do. Here are the best things to do for a birthday in London.

Below is a list on things you can do during the daytime:

London Eye

The London Eye, or the Millennium Wheel, is a cantilevered observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London.

It is Europe’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel, and is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with over 3.75 million visitors annually, and has made many appearances in popular culture.

It’s had a major revamp in recent years, and can be perfect in both the daytime and the night. Make sure to make bookings in advance to skip the queues and prepare all your camera gear for the snaps you’ll take!

Sea Life Aquarium

The Sea Life London Aquarium is located on the ground floor of County Hall on the South Bank of the River Thames in central London, near the London Eye.

It opened in March 1997 as the London Aquarium and hosts about one million visitors each year. It has a vast array of species of fish on display, some of which you can only find here.

London Dungeon

The London Dungeon is a uniquely thrilling attraction that will whisk you way back to the capital’s most perilous past.

See, hear, feel and (ahem!) smell the chillingly amusing characters of the ‘bad old days’ as they come to life before you.

This is not one for the faint of heart, as there will possibly be actors in scary makeup making an appearance and scaring you out of your wits. Perhaps don’t take any children!

Thorpe Park

The best theme park in the London area has reached legendary status with its rides and attractions.

From Nemesis Inferno to the hugely popular Stealth, the rides feel crazier than they look.

Harry Potter Studios

Take a stroll down Diagon Alley, sink your teeth into props and swig down some authentic butter-beer in this amazing studio space in Leavesden.

Experience all the magic of Harry Potter and stand exactly where they filmed all your favourite scenes. You can’t beat this attraction on style and substance, and you can leave the gift shop with your very own wand! What more could a Potter fan ask for?

Things to do for a Birthday in London (Night-time)

Right, so now you have some fresh ideas on what to do in London for your birthday during the day. What will you do in the evening?

Below is a list of things you can do at night in London for your birthday:

Bob Bob Richard

There are only a few times a year when you can order an expensive bottle of Champagne without a second thought.

A birthday is most definitely one of them – and there’s nowhere better to do it than Soho institution Bob Bob Ricard.

This decadent English and Russian restaurant claims to pour more bottles of fizz than any other in London and each table is equipped with a Ring for Champagne bell to make it dangerously easy.

The Glade

There’s a bucolic oasis located just a stone’s throw from Regent Street, if you know where to look. The Glade, a bar and dining room in eccentric hangout Sketch, is a lovely spot for a birthday breakfast, lunch or evening cocktails.

The opulent interior, designed by artists Carolyn Quartermaine and Didier Mahieu, has découpage woodland wallpaper which sets off the velvet furnishings a treat.

Don’t forget to look down to appreciate the spongey, grass-like carpet – an interactive sculpture by artist Alexandra Kehayoglou.

Shaka Zulu

London’s largest South African restaurant, opened its doors in August 2010 with a special royal blessing from the Zulu King, HRH Goodwill Zwelithini.

Set over a groundbreaking 27,000 sq ft in The Stables Market, Camden this spectacular two floor restaurant, bar and club offers amazing food, drinks, live music, dancing and daytime family entertainment.

Cahoots

Cahoots is a 1940s-themed bar located in the heart of London’s Soho. Set inside an abandoned train station, the scoundrels of this station-speakeasy serve up spiffing cocktails, jolly-good rations and live swinging entertainment seven days a week.

Made up of three spaces: The Underground, Ticket Hall & Control Room, step back in time and enjoy each quirky space as you indulge in ‘High Spirits, Scoundrels & Swing!’.

Studio 338

When Studio 338 first opened back in 2014, it had one aim above all else: to bring Ibiza to London.

At the time, it was the biggest club in the capital, and although it has since been eclipsed in terms of capacity, it’s still a faithful ode to the megaclubs that populate the White Isle.

Aside from its huge indoor space, Studio 338 also has an outdoor terrace, allowing it to recreate that sunset-to-sunrise experience that Ibiza is known for – as much as that’s possible in south-east London.

Where to Stay in London for your Birthday

An imporant part of your big day should include one of London’s trendy hotels, especially if you are going to be out on the town in the evening.

Here are some of our favourite birthday hotels in London:

  • Zetter Townhouse

The fashionably eccentric interiors at Zetter Townhouse extend from four poster beds fringed with garlands of union jacks, to stuffed kangaroos and miniature wooden boats.

Known to some as the home of The Zetter’s “Great Aunt Wilhelmina,” the snug boutique bolthole housed in two grand Georgian buildings also serves some truly terrific cocktails from master mixologist, Tony Conigliaro.

  • The Ham Yard

If you need to be in Mayfair or Soho, Ham Yard is perfectly located as its housed in an “urban village” setting at the bottom of Regent Street.

The light-filled modern building is decked out with signature Kit Kemp interiors (all neon lights and furniture are the colour of highlighter pens). Make sure you stop by the dazzling wall of 135 interconnected clocks, and the beautiful fourth-floor roof terrace, which is filled with olive trees, puffs of lavender and vegetable beds.

  • Hoxton Hotel

East London’s first “destination” hotel opened in 2006 and it’s since won legions of fans for its affordable rooms in a great location.

Sure, its “shoebox” rooms are on the small side, but they’re smartly designed and you’ll get a fridge stocked with snacks, a cool retro phone to use, fast wifi and access to some of Shoreditch’s coolest street art sites on your doorstep. The enduringly popular Hoxton Grill also serves up pretty great American comfort food from its red leather booths.

  • Artist Residence

Occupying a handsome five-storey regency terrace in Pimlico, this hotel’s grand surroundings belie its quirky cool interiors.

You’ll find other Artist Residences in Brighton, Penzance and Oxfordshire, but the rakish touches to this London branch – scattered kilner vases and bedside tables made from milking stools – as well as a buzzy cocktail bar downstairs and pop art pieces scattered throughout its 10 rooms, make it a must-visit.
